Discussion of the Fourth Point of the Victory Plan on Kyiv TV Channel

On 16 October 2024, Volodymyr Zelenskyy  made a speech to the  Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and publicly presented his Victory Plan. The fourth point of the plan concerns the strategic economic potential of Ukraine, namely the critical minerals owned by Ukraine, including uranium, titanium, lithium, graphite and others. 

This is, on the one hand, one of russia’s key ‘goals of aggression’ and, on the other hand, a potential opportunity for economic growth for Ukraine and the European Union. The Ukrainian government proposes to sign agreements with the EU and the US on joint protection and investment in the mining and use of these resources.

Natalia Bariatska took part in a live discussion of the fourth point of the victory plan on Kyiv TV channel together with anchor Sergiy Smalchuk. The participants discussed the concept of critical minerals, lists of such minerals for the EU, America, Australia and other regions, as well as the market situation and prospects for Ukraine. The egregious cases of looting and destruction of mining enterprises under Russian occupation, as well as encroachment on critical mineral deposits owned by Ukraine, were discussed. Given the available resource potential of critical minerals, Ukraine has prospects of joining European supply chains and is already taking some steps in this way.
