On 4 September, Kyiv hosted the annual Mining Day, hosted by the Subsoil Use Committee of the European Business Association, which brought together leading experts, representatives of the mining industry, government agencies, and international partners. Softmine LLC traditionally joined the event.

The presentations were held within the three panels:

Panel I. Presentation and discussion of the survey results “Subsoil Use in the Context of War and Development Prospects”.

Panel II. Ukraine and the United States: Strategic Partnership in Mineral Resources.

Panel III. Flash Interview: “Ukraine’s Critical Raw Materials in Global Supply Chains and Their Role in the Country’s Reconstruction”.

The results of the annual survey “Subsoil Use in the Context of War and Development Prospects” showed that 78% of respondents consider the sector attractive for investment, and 68% continue to invest despite the challenges of war. Potential integration into the EU single market, including critical minerals, appears to be more significant for the industry than the creation of a US-Ukrainian Reconstruction Investment Fund. And a high-quality regulatory environment is even more important than foreign investments.

The main topics discussed at Mining Day 2025 included the current state and future prospects of the mining industry of Ukraine, taking into account the impact of economic and wartime conditions, as well as opportunities for development and investment; the regulatory environment, including an analysis of key changes over the past year and proposals for simplifying procedures and increasing transparency; the main directions of reform within the State Geological and Subsoil Service of Ukraine; and the impact of the establishment of the U.S.-Ukrainian Reconstruction Investment Fund on the sector’s development.
