Micromine Workshop " Life Hacks for Educators"

On 17 April 2024, an online seminar was held for Ukrainian university educators who use Micromine software to teach mining and geological disciplines to students. More than 30 participants from 5 educational institutions joined the seminar to learn how to make the implementation of Micromine Origin & Beyond academic licenses more effective and what additional resources Micromine provides to users.

Key Topics Covered:

• Micromine Learning Management System (LMS): Participants learned how to quickly register on the Micromine LMS platform, set up their profile, and enroll in available courses and programs for instructors and students. They also explored how to plan the learning schedule using the course calendar.
• Online Help and Additional Resources: during the workshop how to download a project with ready-made examples that can be used for practical training or to illustrate the work of tools; how to use online help and tips that allow to quickly learn the software functionality and create educational content for students.

• Demonstration: Presenters showcased the capabilities of Micromine Origin & Beyond with a real-world example, demonstrating the workflow from importing and processing geological exploration data to geological modeling, mine design, optimization, and production planning.
• Student Training Exercises: We also developed training workshops for students, each of which includes a dataset and step-by-step instructions in Ukrainian. Available training include: Resource Estimation, Implicit Modeling, Open-Pit Optimization, Open-Pit Design, LiDAR Surface Data Processing, and Blast Design for Open-Pit Operations.
• Useful Links:  The workshop participants received list of links that will help use Micromine effectively for educational purposes.. This list includes links to the Micromine training platform registration form and the Training Calendar, Micromine Technical Support, Micromine Online Help, and the Ready-made Examples set.
• Data Room for Professors: A cloud storage has been created especially for professors of mining and geological universities using Micrimine Origin & Beyond, where educational projects, useful links  and a video of the workshop are stored.

The online seminar ‘Life hacks for teachers’ was attended by representatives of  Volodymyr Dahl East Ukrainian National University, Kryvyi Rih National University, Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, Zhytomyr Polytechnic State University and Dnipro University of Technology.
